Friends for Hope is an organization of young adults in the upper Rio Grande Valley dedicated to helping local children suffering from cancer. The mission of Friends of Hope is to raise funds for the Vannie E. Cook, Jr. Children's Cancer and Hematology Clinic, provide volunteers to support the clinic staff, and to help create community awareness about the clinic and the needs of the young patients that it serves.
INVOLVEMENT:
Volunteerism
- FFH board members volunteer their time at the Vannie Cook Children's Clinic to support staff and entertain and encourage patients when needed.
- Members also volunteer time at outside events coordinated by, or to benefit the VCCCand its patients
Patient Christmas Party
- FFH hosts an annual Christmas Party for patients of the clinic and their families
- The party includes games, food, crafts and gifts from Santa himself. It has become a highlight for many seriously ill children who look forward to a fun-filled celebration.
SUPPORT:
Annual "480" Ranch Benefit
- FFH hosts this annual event -- an exciting evening of exotic game tours in luxury vehicles, fantastic live and silent auctions, dinner and dancing -- every fall.
- The benefit has raised thousands of dollars in proceeds, all of which go directly to the Vannie Cook Children's Cancer and Hematology Clinic.
